Commercial Proposal – Each student will present an idea for a 60 second commercial in both written and storyboard
form. These proposal ideas may be used for the group project. Instructions on how to complete this are below. A copy of the proposal must be uploaded to the Angel website.
Please include storyboards with the document – not separate documents. Drawings can be scanned and placed on pages.
1. Since this is an exercise in filmmaking as well as commercial production, the commercial being proposed should include "filmic" elements such as a dramatic situation and appropriate production design. You can go about this two ways - think of a commercial idea - then find a product or service for it; or start with a "client" and build a commercial for them.
2. The proposal should include a document that describes these things:
a. Who is the client?
b. What aspect of the product or service is being promoted?
c. What would be the appeal used for this? (Think advertising appeals from your previous course.)
d. Who is the target audience?
e. What do you want the audience to remember from seeing this spot?
d. Explain the concept for the commercial in treatment form (Tells the reader how the spot goes as if he/she is seeing it now.)
2. The commercial being proposed should also have a basic storyboard (about 12 panels) to illustrate the shots used for the spot. You may use drawing software, clipart, and your own artwork for this. Please include the storyboard pages with your document that is upload to the dropbox as best you can. Only documents uploaded will be graded. No emails with attachments, no printouts. Thanks.
